Project History
MissionSpace has a proven track record of success. Some of the projects we have supported include:
Under contract to NASA and the Jet Propulsion Lab (JPL), MissionSpace provided complete downlink support for SRTM. This highly successful mission was performed by the Shuttle Endeavour (STS-99), which blasted off from Kennedy Space Center on February 11, 2000 on an eleven-day mission to collect multi-band radar data of the earth's surface. This data was then processed to generate highly accurate 3-D images of nearly 80% of the earth's surface.
Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM)
Since contract award in April 2003, MissionSpace has been providing support to JPL's MRO project. For the ground test phase, MissionSpace deployed the AME to test the spacecraft and its instrument data. For the operations phase, MissionSpace deployed an AME-based data accountability/tracking system to provide operators with automated anomaly identification capabilities. The AME quickly identifies and isolates problems, sends alerts to key operations and personnel, and automatically requests retransmission of missing frames/packets.
Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO)
In addition to providing mission data verification/validation support in March 2005, MissionSpace deployed AME at JPL for the CloudSat project to provide backup downlink capabilities. A small team of engineers was able to design, develop, and deploy a duplicate downlink system in less than three months.
To achieve this rapid turnaround, MissionSpace reused modules from previous AME deployments, quickly developed several new modules, and established over a dozen separate test configurations in order to provide operators with both EU converted and binary data products.
